hey, hi, hello friends!
JUDE SAVES THE WORLD
has been selected to be on the American Booksellers Association’s Indies Introduce List!
this is a huge honour as only
10 books are chosen!
wild. unexpected. ecstatic.
and the bookseller who told me the great news also said it made them feel closer to their family.
in tears. full heart. over the moon.
and to make it extra special, i made the list with a friend!

praise for
JUDE SAVES THE WORLD
“Filled with courage and positivity,
Jude is middle grade’s next Pride icon.
I will be thinking about this story for years to come.
Young readers and adults alike will find this book to be a fantastic resource
in understanding queer and gender identities!”
- Kaliisha Cole,
Whitelam Books, Reading, MA
“This is a beautiful book with amazing, brave characters who fiercely guard friendship as a safe space filled with unconditional love — and set about to make the world that way.
Jude Saves the World cracked my heart open and poured joy right in.”
- Justin Colussy-Estes,
Little Shop of Stories, Decatur, GA
“Despite its difficult moments, Jude Saves the World is pure joy, full of love and support in the face of a parent’s well-intentioned but misguided protection and the ups and downs of friendship.
Ronnie Riley navigates Jude’s identity and various levels of being openly out with care and skill, and seeing them step up to create a safe-space club open to the community at large was inspiring and cheer-worthy.
Jude is the brave and loyal friend all young queer kids need.”
- Gabriella Crivilare,
Prairie Fox Books, Ottawa, IL
“A spectacular novel about friendship, family, and finding your voice,
Jude Saves the World is the sort of book you immediately hug after reading,
before passing it on to everyone you know. An absolutely astonishing, heartwarming debut."
- Eric Smith, author of the wonderful

so i know i missed sending an email revealing the cover, but i’m sure you’ve all seen it by now! it was designed by maeve norton & the artwork is done by ricardo bessa. i’m absolutely in love with it, and can’t wait to share the full jacket too! it’s a stunner!
since my last email, i’ve gotten myself engaged - twice! i proposed to my partner, jules, in march, and she proposed back in april and it was magical. she managed to convince some of my friends & family to sing tina turner’s the best and put it together in a video for me. i sobbed. it was beautiful.
i also moved back to toronto in june, but this time, with the love of my life! i started a new job at a catering company in august. i’ve enjoyed my time there so far, so that’s been great! jules and i saw hayley kiyoko (and she QRT’d us on twitter after her concert!) and went to boston to visit one of my best friends. i also got to meet some of my writing friends there too!
annnnnnnnnnnnnnd i got some major inspiration this month! so i’m currently working on a book proposal for a new middle grade book called, LOOK PRETTY.
it explores multi-generational views on womanhood, and what it means to break free from gender expectations. and i’m so, so excited for it.
hopefully, it’ll land in your hands some day!
oh my goodness, how could i go on without mentioning that there are advance reader copies of JUDE SAVES THE WORLD out in the world?! people are reading my baby the story of my soul, the book that made my dream of being a published author come true. i’m trying to play it cool, but i’m freaking out a bit! people are going to read jude and all i can hope is that part of it connects with others.
i think that’s all for now, folks!
with love,
ronnie
